Concrete Blast Walls
Precast Reinforced UHPC Concrete Blast Walls
Protect your most critical assets with US Barricades® Precast Concrete Blast Walls. Engineered for extreme blast mitigation and force protection, our barriers are manufactured to meet stringent Department of Defense (DoD) Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) standards. Poured with high-strength concrete and reinforced with domestic steel, our blast walls are deployed at military bases, airports, chemical facilities, and power grids across the nation.
- Available in multiple heights and profiles, including standard T-Walls and custom modular designs.
- Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) and other high-strength mixes incorporating fiber reinforcement, extra steel rebar and low water-to-cement ratio for exceptional strength and durable reinforced precast concrete T-wall.
- Manufactured in the United States under strict ASTM manufacturing standards, U.S. Barricades® concrete T-Walls ensure consistent quality with quick, easy and safe installation. This process is a major improvement in saving significant time and labor costs compared to traditional cast-in-place methods.
- 100% BABA Compliant: Proudly manufactured in the United States using domestic concrete and steel, fully satisfying the Build America, Buy America Act requirements for federally and state-funded projects.
To further increase strength and performance we can add the following mixtures
Silica Fume: A very fine powder that fills micro-voids in the concrete, significantly increasing density, strength, and durability.Fiber Reinforcements: The inclusion of steel, synthetic macro, or even basalt fibers dramatically increases tensile strength and controls cracking, which is vital for absorbing blast energy and maintaining structural integrity post-impact.
Fiber Reinforcements: The inclusion of steel, synthetic macro, or even basalt fibers dramatically increases tensile strength and controls cracking, which is vital for absorbing blast energy and maintaining structural integrity post-impact.
Superplasticizers: High-range water reducers that allow a very low water-to-cement ratio to be used while maintaining the necessary workability for placement.
Proper Technique is Crucial: It is not just the ingredients, but also the process, that ensures maximum strength.
Low Water-to-Cement Ratio: The most critical factor for strength is a low water-to-cement ratio, ideally between 0.25 and 0.35, to reduce permeability and enhance the hydration process.
Proper Curing: Controlled temperature and moisture during the curing process are essential for the concrete to reach its full strength potential.
Drastic Labor Reduction
Cast in place (CIP) is incredibly labor-intensive. It requires specialized crews of formwork carpenters, rebar tiers, concrete finishers, and inspectors to spend days, weeks or months on your site.
The biggest financial advantage of US Barricades precast concrete is speed. With CIP, you have to wait for site excavation and grading before you can even begin setting forms or tying rebar. Precast requires a fraction of the manpower—usually just a small rigging crew and a crane operator to set the pieces in place. Studies show precast can reduce on-site labor requirements by up to 25% to 40%. Fewer man-hours mean significantly lower payroll and reduced liability/insurance costs for on-site injuries.
High-Threat Applications & Use Cases
Manufactured with compressive strengths from 7000 PSI to ultra-high-performance 21,000 PSI, these walls are built for critical infrastructure, heavy industry, and defense sectors where standard precast barriers cannot mitigate the threat matrix.
Petrochemical & Energy Infrastructure
Refinery Control Room Protection: Safeguard critical personnel, command centers, and electronics from sudden vapor cloud explosions (VCEs) or thermal radiation.
Transformer & Grid Shielding: Isolate high-voltage substations and transformers to contain catastrophic equipment failures, arc flashes, or localized explosions, preventing cascading grid failures.
Hazardous Material Containment: Create high-strength blast bunkers for pressurized gas storage, volatile chemical tanks, and fuel depots to isolate potential ignition zones.
Military & Defense Operations
Munitions & Ordnance Testing: Construct secure containment perimeters for live-fire ranges, explosives testing grounds, and weapons storage facilities (magazines).
DoD Asset & Perimeter Security: Deploy an impenetrable line-of-sight barrier to protect military bases, command centers, and airfield flight lines from forced entry, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs).
Tactical Threat Isolation: Utilize the freestanding modular design to establish rapid, high-level structural protection for tactical deployment zones without digging deep foundations.
Heavy Industrial & Aerospace Manufacturing
Aerospace Propulsion Testing: Contain extreme noise, shockwaves, and kinetic fragments during jet engine testing or rocket propulsion trials.
High-Pressure Processing (HPP) Zones: Shield workers from mechanical failures in facilities utilizing industrial-scale autoclaves, high-pressure boilers, or heavy machinery.
Scrap & Metal Recycling Separation: Form durable blast-mitigation dividers in heavy shredding yards where industrial sorting processes risk accidental explosions or massive shrapnel projection.
